AVERT : Akatarawa, New Zealand
Akatarawa Valley Emergency Readiness Team
The Akatarawa Valley offers a lifestyle unsurpassed in the Wellington region.
There is room here to spread out and enjoy all the best that New Zealand has to offer: clean rivers, native forests, steep hills and gorges.

However, our isolation and a history of floods, fires and accidents mean that we cannot rely on emergency services. In a civil emergency, we are on our own.
Which is why local residents formed the Akatarawa Valley Emergency Readiness Team, to provide immediate relief until the emergency services arrive.
